Prioritizing criteria for the development of next generation ultra high-speed ground transportation systems

About This Survey

Welcome to the Hyper4Rail Stakeholder survey. This survey aims to gather expert opinions on the relative importance of various criteria for the development of a new super high-speed ground transport system throughout Europe.

The Hyper4Rail project, funded by Europe's Rail Joint Undertaking, aims to establish a concept for hyperloop in Europe based on real user and stakeholder needs. It will assess the business case and develop a roadmap for implementation.

The results of this survey will be used in a Multi-Criteria Analysis to evaluate different options of how hyperloop could be implemented throughout Europe.

How Pairwise Comparison Works

In this survey, you will evaluate criteria by comparing them in pairs. You will assess all possible pair combinations of the criteria. The process works as follows:

  1. You will see two criteria side by side
  2. You then indicate which criteria is more important by moving a slider to the left or right
  3. Using the slider you can also express to which degree you find a criteria more important than the other
  4. After comparing all pairs, we'll calculate the overall priority ranking based on your preferences

This methodology enhances decision quality and improves consistency compared to simultaneous ranking of multiple alternatives, thereby yielding more reliable and well-considered judgments.

Criteria Being Compared

In this survey, you will be comparing the relative importance of the following criteria:

(Minimising) Travel Time
"Minimising the travel time for passengers between destinations"
(Maximising) Connectivity
"Increasing the amount of cities that can be connected"
(Maximising) Environmental and Social Benefits
"Maximising benefits for the environment and society"
(Minimising) Cost
"Minimising the total investment and operating costs required for implementation"
(Maximising) Financial Benefits
"Maximising the financial benefits the system can generate"
(Minimising) Risk
"Reducing the probability that benefits are delayed or not achieved"

Important: Prepare Before You Begin

Before starting, take a moment to think about how you would rank these criteria in order of importance. Not following this recommendation may result in inconsistent responses and invalid results.
